Miller Insulation is committed to an Incident – Free Workplace and to the promotion of safety and health to all personnel. This is accomplished with a committed management team and safety department. Our in-house training department has an extensive training program including all OSHA required construction and general industry regulations.

It is the responsibility of all supervisory personnel to instill a positive attitude and safety awareness in their subordinates. Safety excellence is a continual process and commitment to achieve a world class safety culture. Miller Insulation has received numerous safety awards on both the local and national levels. Miller Insulation has achieved a Platinum Level status on the Associated Builders and Contractors STEP Program. Company information and safety data can be obtained from the following safety auditing companies: ISNet, PEC, Avetta, Browz, First Verify, and the North Dakota Safety Council.

An OSHA incident rate well below industry average coupled with superior workmanship and on-time delivery places Miller Insulation as a preferred contractor with a variety of firms. Miller Insulation has employees trained in OSHA 10 Hr, PEC Landsafe, and MSHA to meet the requirements of the construction, oil and gas, and mining industries.

Ernie Barnhard, Safety Director

Ernie started employment with Miller Insulation in 1996 when he began as a laborer in our Bismarck Branch, working at refineries in North Dakota.  In 1998, Ernie moved to Fargo, and shortly after became a Foreman for our Fargo, ND Branch.  After a few years working at local food production plants and refineries, Ernie was promoted to Superintendent.  While working as a Superintendent, Ernie ran various jobs throughout the Midwest, from Ethanol plant expansions to Incinerator plant additions.  

In 2012, Ernie was offered the job of Corporate Safety Manager and began working alongside David Miller, learning the ins and outs of Safety Management.  During his time as Safety Manager, he completed many OSHA Construction and Industrial 500 level classes and became an in-house teacher for Miller Insulation.  In the Spring of 2019 Ernie completed his CHST certification and holds many other training credentials.  

Ernie became the Safety Director for Miller Insulation in 2020 and currently manages the safety program and training requirements for the Industrial, Oilfield, Commercial, and Residential divisions.
